Seventh grade boys sweep Seneca

SENECA, Mo. -- The Nevada Middle School seventh-grade boy's basketball teams earned a sweep of Seneca Tuesday night.

The A team defeated Seneca by a final score of 42-22. Hunter Mason led the offensive effort for Nevada with 16 points and Braeden Hinton added 11.

On the defensive side, Zach Gardner and Isiah Butler each had five rebounds. Mason had five steals and two blocked shots.

"Hunter Mason had a great game both offensively and defensively," head coach Robert Miner said. "The entire team played solid defense all night."

The B team also defeated Seneca by a final score of 21-15. Shelby Trotter and Tayte Moore scored six points apiece.

On the defensive side, Trotter had eight rebounds, three steals and one block.

"Shelby Trotter set the tone defensively with his aggressive play," Miner said. "Shelby had one of his best games of the season."

Nevada is scheduled to be back in action tonight, taking on Joplin South, at 5:30 p.m., at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center.
