TRENTON, Mo. -- The Cottey College Comets kept their winning streak alive with a decisive, 71-48 victory over North Central Missouri College Wednesday night.
It was a fairly even first half as the Comets entered the break with a narrow, 29-28 lead. However, Cottey turned it on both offensively and defensively in the second half, scoring 42 points and holding the LAdy Pirates to just 20.
It was Dayna Turnbull and Blaklee Sanders who really came alive on offense in the second half, both scoring 14 points in the final 20 minutes. Selena Gochenour had 10 of her own in the second half.
Overall, the leading scorer for the Comets was Sanders with 21 points. Turnbull had 14 and Bailey Braden and Gochenour each finished with 12.
The Comets raised their record to 13-1 with their third consecutive win.
Next on the schedule for the Comets is Saturday, when they host Hesston College in a rematch of a contest the Comets narrowly won in overtime last week. That game will tip off at 1 p.m., inside Hinkhouse Center.
