Ellen Gray Massey and family to share writings on Feb. 8

Author Ellen Gray Massey and some of her family members will be sharing history and writings on Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

The Civil War, the Ozarks and The Wayside Farm: Ellen Gray Massey has written about them all. Her recent books include "Footprints in the Ozarks: A Memoir" and also "Our Robin is Read: Voices from The Wayside." Massey is the author of 29 books, and is a five-time recipient of the Missouri Writers Guild Best Book Award and the long-time editor of Bittersweet, The Ozark Quarterly, which was produced by her high school students in Lebanon, Mo. Massey will be joined on stage by family members Carolyn Gray Thornton (author and columnist for the Nevada Daily Mail), Susan Thornton, and Shirley Garnett to present readings from her books.

The Recital Hall is inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada.
