Friends of a Nevada couple who lost their baby March 27 to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome are planning three events to help the family with funeral expenses and offer financial support through this very difficult time.

A car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3 at O'Reilly's Auto Parts, 300 E. Austin Boulevard. The cost of a car wash is by donation only, according to information for Joshua Barker, who is sponsoring the fundraisers with his wife, Sierra.

The second event will be a 60-mile motorcycle ride May 5 in memory of Kynedi Jo Rylee Boyd, daughter of Calvin "Rusty" and Cody Boyd.

The motorcycle ride will begin and end at Backroads Steakhouse in Nevada. The group of bike riders will meet at 11 a.m. and leave at noon and return around 1:30 p.m. for a barbecue, auction and bake sale at Backroads.

Barbecue is $5 a plate. Face painting and music with a disc jockey are also slated.

Kynedi was born Feb. 13 and was just six weeks old when she died March 27. In addition to her parents, she also was survived by two brothers.

"Help us celebrate the short life of Kynedi Jo Rylee Boyd" Barker said. "Even if you don't ride, please join us at Backroads for the Barbecue and activities."

Backroads, is located on Barrett Street, three-quarters of a mile from Austin Boulevard, past Wal-Mart and Nevada Speedway.

Donations in the form of checks may be made to Calvin Boyd, c/o Joshua Barker, 1009 N. West St. Nevada, Mo. 64772
