Council to consider rezoning property behind former cafe

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

The Nevada City Council will hold a public hearing tonight and vote on a special ordinance to change the zoning of a portion of the 500 block of East Austin Boulevard.

The meeting will be at 7 in the city council chambers of the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.

The planning commission sent the council a positive recommendation to change the zoning from R-3, apartment district, to C-3, commercial district, at the request of Melanie Samora, the agent for Casey's, which is considering building a store at that location.

The council also will consider a special ordinance to allocate up to $12,000 of money from the city's motel tax to establish a USA Cycling Criterium Race to be held in mid-July each year.

Other new business on the council's agenda includes setting rural fire membership fees for the period of July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014; holding a public hearing and voting on an ordinance to remove the utilities easements on property southeast of Wal-Mart for construction of an office building; and resolutions to approve traveled right-of-way permits for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.

The council also will consider the second reading of an ordinance to approve a change order to the city's contract with Kenny Singer Construction Inc. for the Meadow Lane sewer expansion project and an ordinance approving a contract with the Western Missouri 9-1-1 Dispatch Center for 9-1-1 dispatch services.
