Special to the Nevada Daily Mail

The Community Council on the Performing Arts is proud to present PraiseFest Friday through Sunday at the Fox Playhouse.

The show is sponsored, in part, by the Nevada Daily Mail. Directed by Allison Fast, the show features church choirs, soloists and ensembles all expressing the joy of their faith through music.

This is a very family-friendly show. At least 15 participants, representing churches from Nevada, Milo, El Dorado Springs, Butler and Schell City, will perform throughout the weekend.

Each show will be unique depending on when each of the participants is available. At this time, only six of the individuals or groups will appear in all three of the shows. You may want to come for every performance and see a different show each time!

Soloists will include Cindy Cutler, Katelyn Fray, Paula Gray, Doug Harper, Matt Harper, Cassie Moorhouse, Teresa Sword, Donna Tabor, Kevin Williams and Tim Wilson. These individuals will be singing traditional hymns along with some original compositions.

Some will be singing with a CD accompaniment, some a cappella and a few will accompany themselves on guitar.

The Nevada United Methodist Church Men, also known as The Back Row Boys, combined have around 200 years of experience singing in their choir.

The Crossroads Worship Team will feature a pianist and guitarist along with 9 singers. The First Christian Church Chancel Choir is a group of about 20 volunteers who desire to inspire fellow believers in their common faith. A familiar ensemble from Schell City, Blue Mound Sound, features four siblings and their mother, Rachel Kunkel. Also from Schell City, the Church of Israel Sabbath Choir includes singers from age 12 through seniors.

To round out the experience, each show will close with the audience being invited to join all the performers for a final hymn.

Our aim is for you to leave feeling uplifted and with a smile on your face. Show times are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
