Nevada Middle School track and field teams fare well at Tri-County meet

The Nevada Middle School track and field teams competed in the Tri-County track meet Thursday and came home with a number of strong performances.

Nevada's eighth-grade girls' squad took second overall in the meet, with a total of three first-place finishes in individual events and relays. Nevada's only individual win came from Megan Hold in the 200-meter dash, but the Lady Tigers did win both the 400- and 800-meter relays.

The seventh-grade boys' squad took fourth overall, while the seventh-grade girls finished sixth and the eighth-grade boys took home seventh in the team standings.

Nevada took second place in a total of 10 different events in the meet. Hold, Matt Sommer, Zach Gardner, Hunter Mason, Jaiden Cherry and Chloe Bartlett all brought home the silver in individual events, while Nevada's seventh-grade boys' 800-meter relay team also took second.

Nevada got third-place performances from individual athletes in six different events and the seventh-grade boys' 400-meter relay. Among them were Sommer in the triple jump, Bartlett in the 200-meter dash, Tyler Barker in the 100-meter hurdles, Anthony McCulloch in the 200-meter dash and Sammy Gundy in the 400-meter dash and long jump.
