HOLLISTER, Mo. -- The Nevada Tigers baseball team scored 13 runs on 11 hits Monday and defeated Hollister, 13-3, in six innings the opening game of the 16th annual Forsyth Tournament, at Hollister High School.

Taylor Manes led the Tigers offense with three hits in three at-bats, including two doubles, two walks and one stolen base. Grant Wolfe and Brett Norton added two hits apiece.

Easton Mitchell allowed three earned runs on four hits, while striking out seven and walking no one in 80 pitches.

"We played well overall, especially for not having played since last Wednesday," Tigers head coach Danny Penn said. Easton did a good job of throwing strikes, (but) he got into a little trouble when he elevated his fastball. For the most part, he was able to use his offspeed pitches to keep their hitter off-balance."

The Tigers were scheduled to play Strafford Tuesday, at Forsyth, in the tournament semifinals. Strafford blanked Galena, 5-0, Monday in the second game at Hollister.

At Forsyth Monday, the Forsyth Panthers defeated Norwood, 9-3, and Aurora downed Mount Vernon, 15-5. Forsyth and Aurora were also scheduled to play Tuesday in the other semifinal game.

Results from Tuesday night's games were not available at press time.
