Joyce Arlene Maynard, 77, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born March 27, 1936, in Sarcoxie, Mo., to Russell Meister and Velma May Jones Meister. She was married to Charles William Maynard for 47 years and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2013.

Joyce was born and raised near Carthage, Mo. She graduated from high school in 1954, after which she worked as a secretary in St. Louis, Mo. It was there that she met and married Charles Maynard. They purchased a farm near Montevallo, Mo., in the early 1970s. She raised a family there and was active in the community through church, 4-H clubs, and Eastern Star. They moved to Nevada in 2006. Joyce was a church pianist for many years, and volunteered at Spirit and Truth Ministries in Nevada. They were members of Heritage Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennie Tilton and her husband, Richard, White Settlement, Texas; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Graham, Esparto, Calif.; two grandchildren, Michael Tilton and Bethany Tilton, both of White Settlement, Texas; and three stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers and her twin brother, Terryl Meister, Gary Meister, Wilford Meister, and Donald Meister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Jeff Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, May 10, at the funeral home.
