Bushwhackers ready to roll out of the ashes
The stage is in place. Carnival rides are up and ready. Rain plans have been made.
All that's left for Bushwhacker Days to roll is for Wednesday evening to arrive.
The time is 6 p.m. and the place is on the Square in Nevada. It all begins with the singing of the National Anthem by Lori Suschnick Bartlett, followed by the Legends of our Flags and a flag ceremony by the Vietnam Veterans of America.
At 6:25, Nevada Mayor Seth Barrett and County Commissioners Bonnie McCord, Neal Gerster and Everett Wolfe will sign a proclamation declaring June 5-8 as Bushwhacker Days. The opening ceremony volley by the Missouri Osage Territory Muzzleloaders will follow.

6:30 p.m. -- Bushwhacker Days Royalty Coronation -- Queen, Princess, Junior Miss, and Little Miss Bushwhacker. Coordinated by Elizabeth Carey Chapter DAR and sponsored by Pat's Designs Custom Embroidery.
6:30 p.m. -- Bushwhacker Cookout. Cooking by Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department. Coordinated by Bushwhacker Steering Committee. Sponsored by Heartland Behavioral Health Services
6:30 p.m. -- Elaine's Ice Cream Social. Coordinated by the Laurels.
6:30 p.m. -- Dog Show & Ruff, Ruff Race, $5 entry fee per dog. East of Courthouse. Coordinated by Debbie Bossaller. Sponsored by 54 Veterinary Clinic and Vernon County People for Pets.
6:30 p.m. -- Pride Amuse-ments Carnival -- Armband Night. Armbands are $20.
7 p.m. -- Gospel Night. Co-ordinated by Cheryl Rogers and Mark and Laura Mitchell. Pure Heart from Branson will perform, followed by Michael English of Nashville, Tenn.
Pure Heart is sponsored by Deerfield Baptist Church and English's performance is sponsored by Vernon County area churches.
