Elton Gary Light, 71, Kansas City, Mo., passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo. He was born April 28, 1942, in Nevada, to Elton Ellis Light and Mildred Frances Oyler Light. He married Rebecca L. Norris on March 17, 1979, in Kansas City, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Gary was born in Nevada, Mo., and raised in Kansas City. He spent his summers near El Dorado Springs, Mo., at his grandfather's farm. He worked for Safeway Food Barn in the Kansas City area for 27 years, until his retirement.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Becky, include five daughters, Tanya Clark and her husband, Tony, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Sonya Crouse and her husband, D.J., Excelsior Springs, Tina Wood and her husband, David, Fairgrove, Mo., and Rachel Light and Amber Light, both of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenny Light and his wife, Lora, Gladstone, Mo.; one sister, Connie Collins, Sedalia, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 27, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Charles Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Virgil City Cemetery, Virgil City, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Thursday, June 27, from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
