Edward (Ed) Norris, 78, passed away on Aug. 1, 2013, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. He was born on Feb. 7, 1935, in Nevada, Mo., to Floyd and Betty Taylor Norris. Ed attended grade school at Nash School and graduated from Nevada High School in 1953. He then served in the United States Army in Berlin, Germany, for two years. Ed worked for Belger Trucking Company for 30 years and went on to retire from Belger Trucking in 1994.

Ed is survived by a son, Jonathan Damon Norris of Broomfield, Colo.; and a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Zipes of Carmel, Ind. He has three granddaughters, Hannah, Lily and Ellie and a son-in-law, David Zipes, also, all of Carmel, Ind. He is also survived by one brother, Taylor Norris of Cortez, Colo.; and three sisters, Betty Kent, of Cortez, Colo., Jane Flewelling, of Nevada, Mo., also of La Feria, Texas, Wanda Nutt, of Kansas City, Kan.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Ed has been a member of the La Feria American Legion Post No. 439 for 11 years and leaves behind many friends in La Feria.

Friends and family will gather at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, for a short remembrance service.
