Variety Show on Square Thursday

Thursday, August 22, 2013

"Music on the Square" fans will be treated to a variety show today, sponsored by the Nevada Daily Mail. The roster of performers for today's event include about 12 scheduled acts, with at least four surprise performers.

Each performer will perform up to three songs or fill a 10 minute time slot. The event will wrap up about 9 p.m., an hour later than normal. The order of appearance is subject to change, but will tentatively follow this line up:

* Sarah Haney of the Nevada Daily Mail, will again be the master of ceremonies.

* The "National Anthem," performer is yet to be determined.

* Dangerous Doug Harper and Drew Bauer have put together a musical duo performing three original Dangerous Doug songs: "Number Eleven," "Delaware," and "When Tomorrow is Gone."

* Rusty Murry, Nevada Daily Mail reporter, will read an original short story.

* Joe Willis goes solo -- kind of. Joe will perform some all around favorite songs with his mysterious backing band in a box. Joe plays old country and rock 'n roll, and is the only Vernon County resident to have performed on the old and new Grand 'Ol Opry stages in Nashville, Tenn. Joe was inducted in 2009 into Local Ear's Vernon County Music Hall of Fame.

* Rianna Johnson will take the stage to delight us with her vocal talent.

* Kinley Morrow from Lamar will perform with special guest guitarist David Moses Byerly, also a Nevada Daily Mail employee.

* Donald W. Daggett will tentatively sing a gospel and a pop song.

* Eric Wade, Nevada Daily Mail sports editor, will make an appearance showcasing his seven string guitar ability.

* Dylan McInroy former rock singer will mellow it out with some new songs.

* Patrick Christie will perform a drum solo.

* If you have an act and want to perform, contact promoters at 417-684-1732.

* Cassie Moorhouse a Crowder College student will sing a variety of songs.

* Rod Dillon just back from being on the Branson scene will perform some fun songs. Rod is known for the Cooper's Pawn Shop jingle currently being played on area radio.

* Amy Thornton the new Community Center director was formerly a Branson entertainer and will get back in the saddle with some of her favorite country songs.
