Harold W. Phillips, 78, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Walker, Mo., to Albert Wayne Phillips and Emma Fern Tuttle Phillips. He married Kathryn Irene Dutton on June 23, 1957, in Walker, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Harold graduated from Walker High School in 1953 and received his degree in agriculture from Southwest Missouri State, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He started his working career with John Deere Co. in 1957, in Springfield, followed by transfers to St. Charles, Mo., Herrin, Ill., Knoxville, Tenn., Morristown, Tenn., and Baltimore, Md., before retiring as territory manager in 1992. Following retirement he and Kathryn moved back to Vernon County and enjoyed living a slower pace life in the country. Harold accepted his savior in 1948, was a longtime member of the Walker Christian Church, and current member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Kathryn, include one son, Samuel W. Phillips, Nevada; one daughter, Alayna Lee Bracy and her husband, Paul, Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jan Michael Moore and Philip Moore, both of Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Aiden, and Cadence Moore, all from Charlotte; and one sister, LaVerne Crooks and her husband, Sonny, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the First Christian Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at the church. Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
