David Ephland

David Ephland passed away Oct. 29, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janie McDowell Ephland, of Arlington, Texas; his son, Andrew Ephland, of Waco, Texas; his daughter, Bailey Flores and her husband, 1st Lt. Adam Flores, USMC of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and grandchildren, Xavier and Eliza.

He is also survived by his brother, Tim Ephland and wife, Nancy, of Ft. Worth, Texas; his sister, Rita Lentz, of Nevada; his mother-in-law, Mona McDowell; sister-in-law, Rita McCoy and her husband, Don; and two nieces and a nephew.

David was born Dec. 21, 1947, in Nevada, to Clif and Ann Watts Ephland. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1965 and Central Missouri State University in 1971. He married Janie in August of 1971 and moved to Texas. He worked for Merchants Motor Lines for 27 years, JEH Roofing, and retired with Cabelas in 2010.

David was a member of Rush Creek Christian Church and was the Past Master of Handley Masonic Lodge No. 1140, and a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Moslah Shriners. He was an avid reader, expert pool player, and dedicated to volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RCCC Scholarship fund, Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, and the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital of Dallas.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m., at the Rush Creek Christian Church in Arlington, Texas.
