Wet pavement causes accident

Two Nevada residents were injured in a single vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 49 about 15 miles south of Nevada around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Leemasters, Ashley Thompson, 25, of Nevada, received minor injuries, and Kyndl A. Thompson, 4, of Nevada, received moderate injuries during the accident.

According to Leemasters, the wreck occurred when the northbound 1991 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Kyle A. Thompson, 24, of Nevada, skidded on wet pavement, ran off the roadway and struck a ditch. Ashley Thompson was transported by ambulance to the Nevada Regional Medical Center and Kyndl Thompson was taken by ambulance to the Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
