Michael Joseph Oliver

MIchael Joseph Oliver, 67, of Walker, Mo., passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home. Oliver was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., the son of John Joseph and Rosalee (Carroll) Oliver. The family relocated to Missouri where Michael graduated from Wm. Crismon High School. He then served our country in the United States Navy, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Throughout his life he worked as a Parts Salesman, worked for the Crisis Stabilization Center in Gulfport, Miss., and after moving back to this area was employed at the State Habilitation Center, in Nevada. During his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home in Walker; his children, Allen Oliver and his wife, Tammy, of Independence, Mo., Carol Banes and her husband, Scott, of Raytown, Mo., Diane Fitzpatrick and her husband, Bob, of Independence, Mo., Shirley Canant and her husband, Mark, of Walker, Mo., and Tracy Rapp and her husband, John, of Virginia; one sister, Judy McGuire of Lansing, Kan.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

No services are planned. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, in Schell City, Mo.
