William Martin Barnes, 77, Hume, Mo., passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his home. He was born July 24, 1936, to Toney Arvil Barnes and Minnie Hannah (Johnston) Barnes in Winona, Mo. William was united in marriage to Betty Lou Denning on May 19, 1956, in Winona, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Through his working years, William was employed as an industrial machinist. He was a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and country music.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Martin Dwayne Barnes and his wife, Clara, Hume, Robert Lyndell Barnes, Richards, Mo., Tony Lee Barnes, Hume, and Marvin Dale Barnes and Amy Dilly, of Nevada; one daughter, Karen Elaine Brillhart and Daniel, Fort Hood, Texas; one sister, Beulah Pulliam and Richard, Rayville, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Wayne; two brothers, Roy and Floyd; and one sister, Lois.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at West Liberty Cemetery, Bourbon County, Kan. Family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m., prior to the service. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
