Timothy Richard Penn, 54, Nevada, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., following a brief illness. He was born May 16, 1959, in Omaha, Neb., to Leo Patrick Penn and Lillian Bernice (Koehlmoss) Penn. Tim was united in marriage to Becky Franz on May 21, 1982, in Nevada.

Tim moved along with his family to Nevada from Milford, Neb., at the age 10. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1977, and then graduated from Fort Scott Community College with a degree in nursing, becoming an RN. Beginning at the age of 17, Tim began working at Nevada Regional Medical Center where he worked all his life, primarily in the surgical area where he was lovingly known as "the Admiral." Tim was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, loved to bowl, and participated in a bowling league for many years. In his free time he enjoyed kicking back to '60s and '70s music.

Tim is survived by his wife, Becky, of the home; one son, Daniel Penn of Nevada; two daughters, Kristin Penn of Farmington, Mo., and Katelyn Penn of Nevada; his parents, Leo and Lillian Penn of Nevada; four brothers, Dr. Patrick Penn, Michael Penn, Steve Penn and Bill Penn, and one sister, Kathy Quinn all of the Kansas City area; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sharron Johnson and Vonda Jackson and her husband, David; and a brother-in-law, David Franz and his wife, Carrie.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
