Walter Leo Keating, 51, Neosho, Mo., passed away suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Mercy McCune Brooks Hospital, in Carthage, Mo. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Jan. 31, 1962, to Walter Dean Keating and Verna Larae Bennett Keating.

Walter attended high school in Belton, Mo., and moved to Nevada, Mo., 10 years ago. He owned his own construction business in Belton, Nevada and Neosho. He always had compassion for people and had recently volunteered along with friends and family after the Joplin and Granby tornados, helping any way he could. Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman and took every opportunity he could to enjoy both.

Survivors include, Teresa, of the home in Neosho; his father, Walter and stepmother, Bernie, Belton, Mo.; two daughters, Amy Keating, Grandview, Mo., and Dessa Keating, Belton, Mo.; two stepchildren, Dakota and Tisha Cochran; two grandsons Tarren Smith and Kayden Cambron; two brothers, Lyle D. Keating, and Donald L. Keating, both of Moundville, Mo.; three sisters, Helen A. Crist and her husband, Kevin, Independence, Mo., Nancy L. Sessler and her husband, Curt, and Bonnie Sue Vail and her husband, Raymond, Belton, Mo.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
