Heger named Player of the Week

Despite not having a national Player of the Week since Lacy (Leonard) Warren was a member of the Cottey College Comets basketball team in the 2006-07 season, head coach Dave Ketterman has now seen two of his players earn that honor in the same season.

Following in the footsteps of teammate Caley Shaffstall, who was recognized as the NJCAA Division-II Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16, freshman Casey Heger has received the same honor for the week of Feb. 17-23. During that week, Heger scored 42 points and hauled in 28 rebounds to go with her six assists, six steals and three blocked shots.

For the season, Heger is averaging 19.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and has 43 steals and 29 blocks.
