Sheldon and Bronaugh families and individuals can get help with groceries 10 a.m. March 13 as Ozarks Food Harvest's Mobile Food Pantry plans another distribution at the community building in Sheldon.

The mobile pantry has visited Sheldon five times previously, in August, September, October, November and January.

"We served a grand total of 490 families, or 1,239 people," Lindsey Neddenriep, Ozarks Food Harvest public relations and event management coordinator, said in an email. "The total amount distributed so far is 70,000 pounds."

Preregistered individuals will be served first on Thursday. Others must provide a valid photo ID, proof of Vernon County residency (current bill), and a current pay stub, or other financial documentation, to show income eligibility. Clients should bring their own containers to hold food.

The pantry expects 100 families, or 250 individuals, and to deliver 14,171 pounds of food.

"We plan to bring our Mobile Food Pantry back to Sheldon on April 24 and May 22 as well," she said. "Typically, donors support or sponsor each Mobile Food Pantry distribution; however, Ozarks Food Harvest is fully funding these in Sheldon, as Vernon County has historically been our most under-served county in our 28-county service area."

Ozarks Food Harvest did not visit Sheldon in December and February because of the lack of donations.

"The Mobile Food Pantry program usually goes to under-served communities, meaning the pantry we serve in their area needs added assistance serving those in need," she said. "Sheldon is unique in that we simply bring it to the park, without partnership with a local Ozarks Food Harvest-member pantry."
