James Dale Nunez, 62, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in Kansas City, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 25, 1951, in Nevada, to Frank Nunez and Mary Ellen (Little) Nunez.

Jim was raised in Nevada and attended St. Mary's Catholic School and then graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1971. After graduation he lived most of his adult life in the Kansas City area working in warehousing. He was known for being artistic and enjoyed painting and sculpting. Jim also enjoyed gardening and had a love of animals having rescued several stray cats and dogs through the years.

Survivors include four sisters, Margreat Bolser and her husband, Larry, of Wheatland, Mo., Norma Dayringer, Nevada, Martha Tipling, Wheatland, and Teresa Huss, Nevada; one brother, Paul Nunez and his wife, Dana, Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, James Brown and Vincent Brown, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis Nunez, Robert Nunez, and Donald Lee Nunez; and two sisters, Angelina Geary and Mary Gillespie.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Matthew Benjamin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. Family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice House and Palliative Care in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
