The Nevada Tigers golf team made its first appearance at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course for the season Tuesday, taking on Carthage in a two-team, nine-hole match.

The Tigers won the match with a 161, five strokes ahead of Carthage. Nevada's junior varsity squad finished at 199 and the Carthage JV only brought three players, not enough to count toward a team score.

Nevada's John Quitno won the match, individual, with a 37, while Jacob Hammontree tied for fourth at 39. Levi Palmer was seventh at 42, Patrick Ferry finished eighth at 43 and Andrew Quitno rounded out the varsity order in 10 with a 45.

The Tigers were scheduled to be back in action on Thursday, taking on El Dorado Springs and Warsaw, at the Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course, in El Dorado Springs, but that match was called off due to multiple rounds of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
