HUME -- The Hume Lady Hornets softball team got back into action Wednesday, hoping to notch its first win of the season before the district tournament. The Lady Blue Jays of Montrose had other plans, however, and invaded Hume's home field with the intent of spoiling those hopes.

That was exactly what the Lady Jays did, scoring nearly at will and taking down head coach Tammy Metcalf's squad by a final score of 18-0, in four innings. Montrose's baseball team had similar success on the day, completing the sweep with a 21-5 victory.

Next on the schedule for the Lady Hornets is Monday, when they take on the Jennies of Lone Jack High School. First pitch in that contest is set for 5 p.m., in Lone Jack, Mo.

The Hornets, on the other hand, have one more regular-season game left on the schedule, which is set for Tuesday, against Sheldon. First pitch in that contest is set for 4:30 p.m., at Hume.
