Charges against a Nevada man for unlawful possession of a firearm have been dismissed.

Leviathon Dipman, 23, was arrested by Nevada Police March 13 after executing a search warrant at a home on North Clay. Officers acted on information that Dipman possessed a firearm, which would be in violation of his probation.

Prosecuting Attorney Lynn Ewing III said that the firearm possession charge had been dropped recently, though the court was additionally tasked with determining if Dipman had violated his probation in any way.

Ewing suggested Tuesday in the Vernon County Circuit Court at a probation violation hearing that Dipman's probation should be revoked. Judge James Bickel declined Ewing's recommendation.

Dipman will continue serving a five-year probation for a 2012 guilty plea of second-degree conspiracy to commit assault.
