Nevada Tigers head golf coach Brian Leonard presents freshman John Quitno with the Fighting Tiger Award.

The Nevada Tigers golf team held its annual end of season banquet Thursday evening, at the home of head coach Brian Leonard. After grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, Leonard reviewed the season and informed the group about the Tigers setting two records for Nevada High School this season. First was the three first-place finishes in tournaments this season. This was the first time a Nevada Tigers golf team won three tournament championships in a season. The other record-setting accomplishment came from freshman John Quitno, who shot the lowest score to par by any Nevada High School golfer. John shot a 1-under-par 71 at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex, during the Sectional golf tournament to set this record. Leonard then presented letters to junior Andrew Quitno, sophomore Levi Palmer, and freshmen Patrick Ferry, Jacob Hammontree and John Quitno. Leonard presented the 2014 Fighting Tiger Award to John Quitno. On top of those awards, the Tigers earned the MSHSAA Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award, which is presented to teams with a combined GPA of 3.25 or higher. The Tigers had a combined GPA of 3.77.
