Three new teachers at Hume

Hume school district hired Hannah Elliott as a second grade teacher, Cindy Corbin as a first grade teacher, and Rodney Blakeman as a special education teacher.
Elliott, a 2010 graduate of Pittsburg State University, majored in elementary, early and late childhood education.
"I love the interaction with children in second and third grade," she said. "I'm eager to learn about their interests and I want to incorporate that into the lessons. The end of the year is challenging because they become more than students. You feel like they are your kids and it's hard to see them move on."
Corbin, who graduated with a bachelors degree in elementary education and social studies from Missouri Southern State University, taught combined classrooms of first and second grade for five years before coming to Hume.
"I like seeing kids become active learners and not just students," she said in an email. "I enjoy seeing them light up when they understand something that they may have struggled with previously. Although, I enjoy many things about being a professional educator, one of my favorites is seeing students develop a love for learning."
