Whitney Dawn York, 26, of Nevada, Mo., beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Nevada. She was born Sept. 6, 1988, in Nevada, the daughter of Phillip Keith and Becky Sue (Robertson) York, parents who greatly mourn her loss.

Whitney lived all of her life in the Nevada area, where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 2007. She was active in the Nevada High School FFA Chapter where she was elected Sentinel her freshman year. She was also regularly on the A-B Honor Roll. For several years she was employed at KFC in Nevada. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Liberal Christian Church where she was baptized at an early age.

Survivors in addition to her parents include her brother, Kendall York, of Nevada; maternal grandmother, Jean Smith, also of Nevada; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, most of whom live locally in the Vernon County area; along with many friends. Whitney was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Alfred York; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Fleener; maternal grandfather, James William Robertson; and her aunt, Janette Galster.

Graveside services for Whitney Dawn York will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Coal Hill Cemetery, east of El Dorado Springs. A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Ferry Funeral Home.
