Tigers season ends with loss to Pleasant Hill

Top seed Pleasant Hill took advantage of a six-run second inning to take the lead and then held off Nevada in the Class 3 District 13 softball tournament at Warrensburg, Saturday.

The Tigers finished the season at 17-11.

The Chicks, now 19-8, then downed Harrisonville in the championship game, 9-4. Harrisonville had eliminated Clinton 6-1 in the other semifinal game.

Pleasant Hill put together four runs in the first inning but the Tigers nearly matched that, plating three.

The second inning proved Nevada's undoing but still, the Tigers scratched back with a run in the third and then managed another in the seventh before falling.

Pleasant Hill finished with 10 hits to Nevada's seven.

Carsten Warner led the Tigers at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort, scoring three runs. Kayler Ast added two hits and three RBI, with Michaela Brewer adding a hit, a run and two RBI. Reagan Bradley added a hit.

Maddie Hedges, Mallorie Owen, and Warner shared the pitching duties for NHS.

With the conclusion of the tournament, All-District selections were announced.

Carsten Warner was a first team selection in the infield, with Michaela Brewer and Madeline Culbertson second team infield choices, Reagan Bradley and Cheyenne Brewer were second team outfield picks, Maddie Hedges second team pitcher and Kayler Ast second team catcher.
