Emily Buerge

Third grade teacher

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I had great teachers throughout my elementary and middle school experience who made a big impact on my life, and I wanted to be someone who influenced children's lives for the better. I want to be someone who shows every child that they are loved and smart and can accomplish any goal they have. I have always enjoyed children. In high school I was in the A+ tutoring program and I loved tutoring at the elementary school.

What is most challenging in your role and why?

Balancing everything. Making sure that I am getting everything planned and ready for lessons, but also making time to show my students that they are the most important things and showing them that I truly care about them.

What teaching moment is most memorable?

Saying goodbye to my student teaching class. It was really hard for all of us, but I got to see the impact I made on their lives.

Mrs. Washburn, my third grade teacher, and I love kids!

What is most challenging in your role and why?

Trying to understand each child's unique situations and learning styles and then creating a way to meet those needs.

What teaching moment is most memorable?

The best teaching moment is when a student is trying to work through a question they have and suddenly the light bulb turns on and the expression on their face is priceless.
