The Nevada City Council will be holding its first reading of the 2015 Municipal Budget during its meeting Tuesday, at 7 p.m., in the council chambers, in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.

Two budget related items will be under consideration: a public hearing on water and sewer rates and ordinances that will increase the water and sewer rates. The new proposed rates for city residents will increase the rate for the first 1,000 gallons of water from the current $12 to $13.20, an increase of $1.30, with each additional 1,000 gallons of water going from $7.64 to $8.40, an increase of 76 cents. Sewer rates are proposed to increase the current $12 for the first $1,000 gallons of water used to $13.20, an increase of $1.20, with each additional 1,000 gallons increasing from $5.64 to $6.20.

Others items under consideration will be the purchase of new chairs for the council chamber/municipal courtroom in the new public safety building, and the re-appointment of Jim Liley to the planning commission.

The council will also be considering the first reading of an ordinance renewing the city's contract with Alliance Water Resources for 2015, the first reading of an ordinance accepting the bid from Rosetta Construction, Springfield, for sewer improvement and the second and final reading of an ordinance authorizing the city to issue up to $50 million of taxable industrial revenue bonds to finance upgrades at 3M.
