William Rex Holman

William Rex Holman, 63, formerly of Nevada, passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at the Mark Twain Caring Center, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., following a lengthy illness. Bill was born on March 31, 1951, in Springdale, Ark., to Rex Lee Holman and Effie Elma (Litton) Holman. He was united in marriage to Della Faye Smith, in Springdale, on Nov. 26, 1981, and she preceded him death on Feb. 14, 2003.

Although Bill was raised in Springdale, he resided in Nevada most of his adult life before moving to Poplar Bluff where he had lived the past four years. Bill owned his own truck and made a living as an over the road trucker most of his life. He was employed by SMX Trucking for a number of years, also having worked for George's Trucking in Springdale prior to moving to Nevada.

Survivors include one son, Rex Holman, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one daughter, Viola Holman, Nevada; nine grandchildren, Devon Smith, Dalton Smith, Dele Lee Holman, Brooke Holman, Colbin Holman, Christian Rogers, Ryan Rogers, Sabian Pitts, and Makayla Pitts; three brothers, Jimmy Holman, Lowell, Ark., Roy Wilburn, Bella Vista, Ark., and Darrell Ferriel, Gravette, Ark.; one sister, Lois Day, Elm Springs, Ark.; and one daughter-in-law, Jaime Smith, Nevada. In addition to his wife, Della, he was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Tommy Smith, in 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 22, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Cremation will follow. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home.
