Lyla Perrodin is the second speaker in the 2014-15 Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by Cottey College's Serenbetz Institute for Women's Leadership, Social Responsibility, and Global Awareness.
The title of her address is "Tales from the Journey: Women's Leadership in Real Life." She will speak Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. A reception will follow.
Perrodin has held positions in accounting, information technology, corporate communications, and strategic planning. She founded her organization, The Perrodin Group LLC, in 2013 to focus on strategic planning and business transformation. She has worked in industries from agribusiness to mining, from bioscience to manufacturing, from financial services to professional services.
She has a track record for identifying and developing talent and has been especially committed to supporting the development of other women, noted a press release from Cottey.
"Perrodin also has a strong commitment to philanthropy." She has been involved as a volunteer and board member for several Kansas City organizations including the Women's Foundation of Greater Kansas City, Girl Scouts of NW Missouri and NE Kansas, and the Mid-America Chapter of the National MS Society. She was a founding member of the United Way's Women's Leadership Council and co-chair of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce's Executive Women's Leadership Council during its first two years.
Perrodin was born and raised in Monett, Mo. She left southwest Missouri to attend Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where she majored in accounting and computer information systems management.
From there she took a journey that led her to live and work throughout the U.S. and internationally, eventually landing back in Missouri in the Kansas City area. Perrodin's husband describes her as an "animal loving tree hugger" and they especially enjoy travelling and attending live theater and music events together.
The Recital Hall is inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada.
The speaker series is free and no tickets are required.
