Nevada seventh and eighth-graders emerge victorious

JOPLIN ---- The Nevada Tigers eighth-grade boys basketball team defeated Joplin North 49-28 Thursday night.

The Tigers have now won nine consecutive games, improving to 11-1. Forward Matt Thompson led the way for Nevada, scoring a game-high 19 points. Guard Carter Swearingen added 10 while forward Will Johnson finished with eight.

The Tigers eighth-grade B-team came away with a 21-9 win over Joplin North. Guard Coletan Shepard scored a team-high five points. The B-team concludes the season with an 8-4 record.

Seventh-graders

The Nevada Tigers seventh-grade basketball team picked up a 46-16 Thursday night road victory over Joplin North. For Nevada, Austin Bash led the way with 13 points.

The Nevada seventh-grade B-team fell 16-9, as Jacob Chadd finished with six points for the Tigers.

The seventh-graders host the Tri-County Tournament, Feb. 16-19.
