Nevada boys beat by Center

The Nevada Tigers junior varsity boys basketball team lost to Kansas City Center 66-60 on the road Thursday.

Tigers head coach Kyle Talley said he was pleased with the team's effort.

"This is definitely the best we have played as a group," he said.

For the Tigers, three players scored in double-figures: Patrick Ferry with 17, Myles McNeley 16, and Derek O'Dell 13.

"We executed a tactic early to run some clock to keep us close and the game low scoring," Talley said. "We made some big shots (late) to pull within four."

Talley said turnovers hurt his team in the second half.

"We got careless on a few occasions," he said. "But it was due to being a bit tired from playing very hard throughout.

"We would call time out and the guys would get refocused. Unfortunately, they don't give us six or seven time outs."

The Tigers wrapped up their season 7-15.

"Everyone contributed and played hard," Talley said. "Myles, Derek and John Quitno shot it well. Patrick played the most aggressive game I've seen him play.

"If (Patrick) plays with that intensity in the future, he and Clay (Gayman) will give people fits in the post (in varsity games) for the next couple of years.

"I'm very of proud him as well as all the other young men on this team."
