Search for Drake leads to different arrest

Deputies swarmed an apartment building in Nevada Tuesday afternoon after receiving a tip from the public that Gary Drake, a person wanted by the Vernon County Sheriff's Office may be inside.

According to a press release from the VCSO, deputies were unable to locate Drake in the apartment but found another wanted fugitive instead. John D. Howell, 22, of Nevada, was found hiding in a bedroom of the apartment while deputies were searching for Drake.

Howell was wanted on a no-bond probation violation warrant. According to Vernon County Sherriff Jason Mosher, Howell was taken into custody without issue. "We were in the right place at the right time," said Mosher. The sheriff said they are continuing the search for Drake and is asking the public to continue with the help they have already provided by calling the Sheriff's Office at 417-667-6042 with any information about Drake.
