Local NRTC DECA members compete at State Career Development Conference

Twenty-one students of the Nevada Regional Technical Center Chapter of Missouri DECA, an association of marketing students, joined more than 2,000 high school marketing students at the annual state career development conference March 15-17, at the Lodge of the Four Seasons, Lake Ozark.

Students receiving awards at the state level were:

Second Place -- Creative Marketing Project -- Shadol Blanchard, Gwendolyn Broughton, Ezra Solidum.

Fourth Place -- Community Service Project -- Myrissa Dunfield, Ryleigh Galimberto, Jacee Heckadon.

Fifth Place -- Advertising Campaign -- Elienor Pruitt, Taylor Remington, Isabel Serna.

Entrepreneurship Innovation Project -- Gabby Gire, Carly Greer.

Financial Consulting Event -- Ben Sommer.

Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research -- Dayton Miller, Peyton Walker.

Seven students qualified to compete at DECA's International Career Development Conference April 24 through April 29 in Orlando, Fla.

Those qualifying were the Creative Marketing Project team of Shadol Blanchard, Gwendolyn Broughton and Ezra Solidum, the Community Service team of Myrissa Dunfield, Ryleigh Galimberto, and Jacee Heckadon and Ben Sommer in the Financial Consulting Event.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

DECA conferences are targeted, highly-focused learning experience, connecting with corporate professionals to engage students in learning industry-related trends and content.

Martha Cubbage serves as the local DECA chapter advisor.
