Tigers tennis team opens season with home loss to Clinton

The Nevada Tigers tennis team opened its 2015 season with an 8-1 loss to Clinton, Monday afternoon at Nevada High School.

Single matches

Nevada's lone victory of the day came from the team's No. 1, Skyler Laning, who defeated Clinton's Nicholas Valentino 8-6.

Nevada's No. 2 Nathan McCall suffered an 8-3 loss to Clinton's Braeden Westhusing.

The Tigers No. 3, Thadius Mason, was defeated by Clinton's Spencer Journey, 8-2.

Nevada's No. 4, Jordan Sheehy, was beat by Clinton's Logan Hurt 8-3.

Sheel Patel, at No. 5 for Nevada, fell to Jacob Jeffrey 8-1.

Nevada's No. 6, Brodrick Mason, was edged by Tyler Grimes 8-6.

Doubles matches

Nevada's No. 1 doubles team of Laning and Thadius Mason, tumbled to Valentino and Westhusing 8-1.

The Tigers No. 2 doubles team of Sheehy and Patel, was defeated by Journey and Hurt 8-3.

Nevada's No. 3 duo, McCall and Brodrick Mason were toppled 8-1 by Jeffrey and Grimes.

The Tigers travel to Fort Scott, Wednesday, to compete in the Fort Scott Invitational.
