Phylis Marian Tucker

Phylis Marian Tucker, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, May 14, in her home. She was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Nevada, Mo., the eldest daughter of Ernest and Mary Gonterman. Phylis lived most of her adult life in Springfield, enjoying 55 years of marriage to Claude D. Tucker, also of Nevada. She attended Galloway Baptist Church and was a regular Auxiliary volunteer in the Mercy Endoscopy Department. She loved her family, reading, quilting, and watching sporting events on TV.

Phylis was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, and her only sibling, James L. Gonterman.

She is survived by her three children, Thomas M. Tucker and wife, Marti, Diane E. Tucker, all of Springfield, and Kenneth D. Tucker and wife, Sarah Johnson, of St. Charles, Mo.; three grandchildren, Karri Rache and husband, Scott, Andrew M. Tucker, and Megan L. Tucker, and one great-grandson, Spencer Jurgensmeyer, all of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Nancy Gonterman, of San Angelo, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery on Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m., under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf with Pastor Ty Harmon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Oak Mission or Schweitzer UMC Food Pantry.
