Nevada Housing Authority hosts Father's Day event

The Nevada Housing Authority, in partnership with other Nevada organizations, will be hosting its Fourth Annual Father's Day Event Sunday at 4 p.m. at Lyons Stadium. Family activities begin with registration at 4 p.m. and the activities begin at 4:30 on Bushwhacker Field.

To get to Bushwhacker Field enter through the main gate at Lyons Stadium to register. There is no charge and everyone participating will get tickets for hot dogs and drink at the Griffons game. There will be pre-game activities for all ages, with prizes awarded.

The Griffons game with the St. Joseph Mustangs will begin at 7 p.m., with pre-game recognition of special guests at 6:30.

Rep. Patricia Pike will deliver the game ball to World War II veteran Lawrence Cole and Nevada Police Officer Patrick Deao to throw out the first pitch.

The first 250 attending will be given an American Flag in honor of Flag Day and to honor all uniformed service individuals, past or present. An aerial photograph will be taken of the crowd with the American Flag.

The theme for this year's event is "Strengthening and Empowering Families." Public Housing Authorities across the country will devote a day full of activities and information to strengthening, empowering and improving the quality of life of families living in affordable housing.

Partners for the event include: Healthy Nevada, Nevada Griffons, Nevada Police Department, Pathways, Nevada Parks and Recreation, Family Support Division/Child Suupport Program, Heartland Behavioral Health Services, city of Nevada, Rep. Patricia Pike, Nevada Public Library, Vernon County Commission, YMCA, 3M, Nevada Daily Mail and KNEM/KNMO.
