A wanted fugitive that has been featured on the Vernon County's Most Wanted is in custody Friday after being identified by an administrative office worker at the Sheriff's Office. According to a press release issued Friday evening, Amber R. Shelton, 22, of Nevada, was arrested in the parking lot of the Sheriff's Office after she entered the building and giving a fake name, attempted to leave money for an inmate in the county jail.

Sheriff Jason Mosher said as Shelton was attempting to leave, she was spotted by an administrative worker who then notified a nearby deputy that she was a fugitive. "Shelton walked right past the person that puts together our intelligence reports for the deputies including the most wanted so she knew who Shelton was." The Sheriff said the deputy asked Shelton for her name and was again given a false name. The Deputy then printed a booking photo of Shelton and verified her identity including a felony warrant for failure to obey a judge's order. "If you are on our most wanted list, it's probably not a good idea to come to the Sheriff's Office if you're trying to not get caught" said Mosher.

The Sheriff said Shelton's original charge was possession of a controlled substance, but she is now being held with no bond on the new warrant.
