Neptunes swimmer Hines has big summer in pool

Submitted photo/ Ben Hines, who joined the Nevada Neptunes for part of the summer, recently earned four first place medals at the U.S.A. Sanctioned State Long Course Swimming Championships. Hines competed in the Arkansas State Long Course Swimming Championships in Fort Smith, Ark., July 24-26. While there, competing in the 11-12 year-old age division, Hines brought home first place wins in the: 50-meter butterfly, with a time of 30.78; the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 28.61; the 100-meter freestyle, clocking 1.03.24; and the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1.12.90 Hines also placed second in the 50-meter backstroke, fifth in the 200-meter individual medley, and fifth in the 100-meter backstroke. Hines achieved triple-A times in three events, qualifying him for the U.S.A. Central Zones Championships, held in Topeka, Kan. Hines swims for the Jasper County Killer Whales.
