Osage Lodge No. 303 of Nevada will host its sixth annual golf tournament fundraiser at the Frank E. Peters Golf Course Sept. 12, to benefit the children of Nevada and Vernon County.

"We contribute to a lot of different things," David Grubb of the Osage Lodge said. "Anything kid-oriented."

This year, that will include providing to the "Creating a Partnership" program with the Nevada school district, which will give clothing, hygiene products and school supplies to children in the district. Nurses from the school district have determined those items are needed to provide that assistance.

Already, Grubb said the lodge has provided more than $20,000 to that program over the first five years of the golf tournament, and said he hopes they can raise about $5,000 more this year.

Each year during the Bushwhacker days, the Lodge also sponsors the Missouri Child Identification Program, which compiles physical data such as height, weight, finger prints and dental impressions from participating children so, if ever they are lost or abducted, the parents can provide that data to law enforcement agencies.

"This is our only fundraiser," Grubb said, saying they hope to have 36 teams participate in the event, which is held in September after previously being held in the months of July or August.

Teams of four can register in the scramble tournament, which will feature special events and games, as well as lunch and non-alcoholic beverages.

The event is a shotgun start at 9 a.m., with four flights.

Because of numerous sponsors, including 20 new ones this year, certain holes will have prizes such as $5,000, a $500 Visa Card, a Kindle Fire and a set of Cleveland Irons for those who get a hole in one.

Each hole is also sponsored by groups or local business. A silent auction will be available with items provided by area donors.

Registration deadline is Sept. 5. For information or to register, call 417-448-7649 or email dj66grubb@yahoo.com
