Bronaugh hosted a victory of victories against NEVC, winning 25-17 in both games.

The first game saw a host of long runs by both the Lady Cats and Lady Knights.

Bronaugh (8-8-1) opened game one with a four-point lead including two aces by Kailey Harrell, but put the Lady Knights on the scoreboard with a service error on Harrell's fifth serve.

Following the error, NEVC's Becky Jennings served an ace, but then served the ball into the net. There were a total of 14 serving errors in the first game.

With the score 16-15 -- too close for Bronaugh coach Daryl Dodson -- a timeout was called. Coming out of Bronaugh's timeout, the Lady Cats sealed the game with a 9-2 run. During this run, Katey Rider notched two kills, Lindsey Reedy recorded three kills and an ace; and Paige Wait aced a serve.

In the second game, both teams brought a new energy to their play. The first eight points of the game went back and forth until Savanah Fleener brought a lead to the Lady Knights with a five-point run. During the run, she recorded three aces.

"Tonight's game was so much better than their last game," NEVC coach Kelci Rapp said. "They played very well together, they actually did a lot more talking and moving. Overall this was probably their best game of the season."

After misjudging the ball, Fleener passed the ball too far from her teammates ending the run and allowing Bronaugh to get both a point and the ball back.

The Lady Cats went on an 8-1 run lead by Reedy, who collected an ace during the run. Rider swung three kills during the run. After an ace by Rider, an NEVC timeout was called to dissolve some of the momentum Bronuagh had built.

During the time out, Rapp said she spoke to her team about "how well they were playing," telling them to have more fun. "It really made them do so much better."

Following NEVC's timeout the Lady Knights went on a 9-4 run, with help from several unforced errors by Bronaugh to reclaim the lead.

After Rider hit a ball out of the court on a passing attempt, Dodson called his final timeout to regroup his team.

After the time out, Amanda Raper took control of the game. She reeled off seven serves collecting two aces, a kill and a dig before her teammate Rider killed the last two points of the game to the middle of NEVC's court.

In the teams' previous match, Bronaugh won the match 25-8 and 25-19. Rapp said her team followed the team game plan and goals she sets for each match including, having fun, talking on the floor and having each player have three hits or three blocks per game.

"They followed [the game plan] much better than last time, and I would say they met all of the goals tonight," Rapp said.
