During the Schell City Board of Aldermen meeting, the aldermen discussed damages to the park, which occurred on Oct. 31.

Erin Lee, the city clerk, said she had just been told about the damages the day before the meeting on Nov. 3 and several board members said they did not know about the damage. Alderman, Broc Koshko told the board an unknown person drove through the park, creating donuts with his car or truck and tore up the sod. No playground equipment was damaged.

"We've asked lots of questions, and nobody knows who did that," Lee said. "That's all we know; the next day, people saw the damages to the park, and zero people witnessed it. We're just kind of stuck with it."

Lee said she was hopeful the damage could be raked over after the damage dries.

The Schell City Board of Alderman voted to pay Terry Smith the full $2,021.51 he was owed for a lot of basic, water system repairs.

Smith previously told the board he would accept the first payment for his work in installments however the board could afford. After a long discussion, Lee told the board no matter when the payment was finalized, the board would be at the same place, financially.

The board discussed the city's finances before making a decision on when to pay Smith's bill entirely.

"If we continue our water loss the way it is, would we find ourselves behind before Jan. 1?" Koshko asked Lee.

Lee responded, "I don't think we'll be behind, but I think it will be close."

Later in the conversation, Koshko said, "At worst we'd be at $2,000, rock bottom. If we get our water bills in next month, we'll profit how much?"

"We won't have a profit," Lee said.

"None at all?" Koshko asked.

"Not without breaking even," Lee said.

Lee continued to explain to the Alderman the city could make money "here and there" suggesting the income for the city goes up and down depending on how much water is used.

The conversation moved back to paying Smith for the repair work he did for the city. After Lee told the board Schell City would be in the same place financially no matter how many different increments they took to pay the water repair bill, the budget would still look the same.

Koshko told the board he felt the board should pay Smith in full because that's how good business is done. He made the motion to pay Smith in full.

Koshko made the motion to pay all the city's bills. The motion passed unanimously.

Before the meeting, James Conwell was sworn in. He was brought in after Melisa Paris resigned because she no longer lived in Schell City's city limits.

Conwell was accepted as a replacement alderman at the city's special board of aldermen meeting, Oct. 14.
