Vernon County Cancer Relief is hosting a Boots, Blues and BBQ fundraising event on Saturday Feb. 6, at the Nevada Eagles Lodge that will feature recognition of donors and volunteers, as well as a meal, and auctions.

Jamie Vantellman, VCCR president, said that everyone should come out because the event is "always a lot of fun" and that there are always a variety of people there supporting a great cause, and of course, there is excellent food.

Tim Gotschall, who owns Tim's Convenience Store on Osage, will be recognized for his contributions to VCCR. Gotschall set up a charge account so that VCCR can help patients buy fuel to get to treatments.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., and supper will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 per person. The meal is being prepared by Harry Dighero, Shane Schism, Slade Williams, and their crew.

Entertainment will be provided by the band Sober as a Judge. There will also be drawings for prizes, and both a live and silent auction.

VCCR was founded in 1987 by Jody Renwick and the Finis M. Moss Charitable Trust to provide support for individuals and families living with cancer. It helps with the cost of fuel to get to treatment, foods, utilities, and other needs. VCCR is a charitable organization.

"This type of organization takes a great community all pulling together to continue being so successful," Vantellman said.
