Suspect in custody in stabbing

Nevada Police have identified a suspect in a stabbing that occurred Sunday morning around 7 in Nevada.
The man, described in his late 20s or early 30s, is already in custody and is in the Vernon County Jail on unrelated motor vehicle charges.
The victim, a Nevada resident in his 20s, is recovering and is in intensive care at a Joplin hospital after being lifeflighted via helicopter.
Tuesday was the first day officers were able to talk to the victim to confirm details of the incident.
Police are seeking charges of robbery and assault and were in the process of turning in the paperwork to the prosecuting attorney.
The incident reportedly occurred when the suspect confronted a man speaking to his alleged girlfriend at an unrelated female friend's apartment, said police.
Officers determined there was no relation between the victim and the female.
"Our understanding is that the suspect found the victim in the apartment. The suspect became upset and made an assumption. He then demanded the victim empty his personal property. At that point, before the victim could flee, he was stabbed.
"The victim got to a family member's house nearby and they called," for help.
"We found him going into shock. He had a large laceration in his stomach area."
The suspect is on parole and probation (through another county) and has ties to Nevada, said Police Chief Graham Burnley.
"We had a lead that led to this individual."
