Hume derailed at Archie hoops tournament

The Hume Hornets and Lady Hornets each dropped a pair of games in the opening and consolation rounds of the Archie Basketball Tournament.

The eighth-seeded Hornet boys team was beat 76-22 by top-seeded Rich Hill in opening-round action Tuesday. Also Tuesday, the seventh-seeded Lady Hornets were bested 67-34 by No. 2 seed Drexel. In Wednesday's consolation semifinals, the Hume boys were topped 70-44 by fifth-seeded Drexel, while the Lady Hornets were defeated 56-43 by third-seeded Butler.

Against Butler, Lady Hornets point guard Brhett Mumma had to sit for part of the first half after getting into foul trouble. Mumma, who finished with 14, scored her 1,000th career point, needing only three seasons to do so. Mumma also grabbed 15 rebounds.Hume's Megan Sutcliffe also tallied a double-double, scoring a team-high 19 points to go along with 16 boards.

For the Hume boys against Drexel, forward Dakota Thornburg contributed a team-high 16 points.
