Hume School--salary schedule unchanged

On Wednesday evening, the Hume school board approved Superintendent David Quick's recommendation that the salary schedule remain the same for the 2016-17 school year.

According to Quick, Hume now ranks in the middle of the conference for base salary. The base salary is $26,500 per year. Hume was the lowest on the pay scale for 2014-15.

In other business, the board approved a $1,000 donation to the Lions club for the use of the baseball field. The field is currently being readied for the season.

A sound system for the multi-purpose room has been ordered at a cost of approximately $300.

Both Science Olympiad teams have qualified to advance to the state competition in April. The high school team thought they placed fifth in regionals at Warrensburg, but an error was discovered in the scoring that moved them to the fourth place spot which qualifies them to go to state competition. The Junior High team placed first at regionals.

Ticket prices for conference events next year will be raised to $4. All conference events lost money this season.

The insurance association now has almost 15 million in reserve after only two years. The goal had been 11 million. The association is a collective of more than 60 schools and provides medical insurance to the faculty and staff.
